Orphaned non-free image (File:Google search.png)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Google search.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 21:44, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Non-free screenshots

Hi. Please don't replace text logos with fair use pictures with more restrictive licenses, such as the Windows NT logos you've recently changed. Kindly revert to the old logo or I'll do it myself. — Jan Hofmann (talk) 06:20, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

OK, Jan. I did it. James Michael 1 (talk) 01:33, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Windows 95

Hello James,

I have some concerns with some of the corrections you made to the Windows 95 article. First of all, you make several unrelated changes in a single edit, making it difficult to undo the ones I disagree with while preserving those that are clear improvements. It also results in the fact that the edit summary you provide isn't very informative. Might I suggest you spread unrelated changes over a number of edits? What concerns me most is that some of your changes seem to be semi-automated and not really well thought through. For example in this edit [1]: why do you thought it was necessary to remove the non-breaking spaces in the dates (they prevent awkwardly placed line breaks in the table on lower resolution screens) or the second column from the references? Or here: [2]. It is general not necessary to pipe redirects and would actually be annoying if the article Windows 3.1x was ever renamed, split or merged. An here [3] you (incorrectly) swapped the "Notes" and "References" sections. In larger articles the "Notes" section is intended for footnotes (<ref>'s) while the References section is usually reserved for those references that are interesting for further reading (and should probably be called "Further reading" to make that clear.)

I hope I'm not being overly harsh, these are just some (in my opinion, of course) tips to improve your edits. Cheers, —Ruud 16:02, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Ruud.
Thank you for your post. I love beauty, correctness and accuracy. Therefore my corrections makes article better (in my opinion).
I hope you understand me. Delighted. James Michael 1 (talk) 15:06, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Proposed major reforms to decade articles

Hi - I noticed you have contributed recently to one or more of the decade articles (1990s, 1960s etc). I am proposing some major changes to these articles, as I have outlined in Talk:1990s#Suggested_reform_of_decade_articles, and I would be interested in hearing your views in the first instance. Thanks. Kransky (talk) 08:54, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

European Union

Hello James: The question is rather confusing. Herman Van Rompuy is formally the president of the Europan Council as of December 1. He will chair this institution until May 31, 2012. However, due to other engagements, Van Rompuy will, so to say, effectively take up his position on January 1, 2010. That's probably why some media, French Wikipedia, and others, still refer him as 'President elect'. The question is - should we do the same? best regards, Hapsala (talk) 13:03, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

"I Need Love" and Close to Seven

Hi James Michael and sorry for my bad English, as it's not my native language. I redirected "I Need Love" to its parent album, because the song fails WP:NSONGS. This page says :

=> The song didn't appear on any chart, didn't win significant awards or honors and hasn't been performed by several notable artists. There is no substential coverage in reliable source to prove notability. So it shouldn't get its own page.

=> In addition, I pretty sure that the article won't be expanded and will remain a stub.

I hope I answered your question. Best regards, Europe22 (talk) 17:09, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Windows NT 3.1 logo.png

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on File:Windows NT 3.1 logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Are you really bored tonight?

I'm curious by all your edits, like hyphens Template:Lunar_eclipse_set_1951–1955, what's the point except ugly URLs? Template names are not even visible to articles! Also please keep the open links of eclipse articles 1900-2100 which will be expanded. It's all in progress. SockPuppetForTomruen (talk) 06:15, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

edits to article GIMP

I have reverted the majority of your edits to GIMP, no reasoning was given as to your changes, and the reason was not obvious or clearly an improvement. We welcome further edits to the page, but if the reasoning behind your changes is not obvious please make a note of why it was changed that way. --Gnepets (talk) 09:56, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Sandra discography

Hi James, can you possibly post a new photo image of her here, if you could, please? Thanks. Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:58, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
