Scott Prince (born 27 February 1980 in Mount Isa, Queensland) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Gold Coast Titans of the National Rugby League competition. He has also represented Queensland and Australia. He has previously played for the Wests Tigers, Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys and his usual position is at half-back.

Contents

North Queensland

Prince attended high school at Ignatius Park College in Townsville, where he went through the rugby league programme. He then began his NRL career with the North Queensland Cowboys debuting in the newly-reunited competition's first season.

Brisbane Broncos

Prince's playing days at the Broncos were marred by injury that severely limited his game time. Prince broke his leg on two separate occasions, leading to him being released by the club.

West Tigers

Prince starred at the Wests Tigers, helping them to a grand final win in 2005 and at the same time winning the Clive Churchill Medal for Man of the Match.

Gold Coast Titans

Prince returned to Queensland for NRL season 2007 to play for the newly-established Gold Coast Titans, becoming the only player ever to play for all three Queensland NRL teams: Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys and Gold Coast Titans (Although Dale Shearer also played for the Brisbane, North Queensland and Gold Coast first grade clubs during his career).

Prince was named co-captain of the inaugural team with Luke Bailey.

Prince was a star for the Gold Coast before his injury which kept him out for several weeks. Prince made a return for the Titans and they finished 12th on the ladder; one win away from the Top 8.

Prince began 2008 as co-captain with Luke Bailey. It was announced that Prince would replace the injured Darren Lockyer in the second game of the 2008 Origin series. It was initially revealed by the selectors that they were reluctant to select Prince alongside fellow halfback Johnathan Thurston in the Queensland halves as they feared that both he and Thurston would get into each other's ways during the game,[citation needed] however on the night both complemented each other's game and led Queensland to a record win against the Blues. Having replaced Lockyer, Prince himself was injured early in game three of the series, breaking his left forearm.

In August 2008, Prince was named in the preliminary 46-man Kangaroos squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup,[2][3] and in October 2008 he was selected in the final 24-man Australia squad.[4] He also played one match in the World Cup against England.
