Scott Harding (born 19 June 1986) is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League.

Early life

He attended the Anglican Church Grammar School in Brisbane for the majority of his schooling years.

Harding is of pacific islander descent. His mother, Tulaga Baitela, is from the Polynesian nation of Tuvalu.[1]

AFL career

Scott Harding was drafted as a rookie by the Brisbane Lions in the 2005 AFL Draft from local Brisbane club Morningside.

He starred in the 2006 NAB cup. In the round 1 of the NAB cup against Essendon he accumulated 28 possessions in his first game. Harding made his AFL debut for the Brisbane Lions in Round 1, 2006 against Geelong. He became known as a hard nosed midfielder in the Daniel Kerr mould - capable of winning the ball at ground level and breaking the lines in pack situations. He is often compared to Jason Akermanis due to his playing style and ability to set up many goals and racking up possessions.

Trivia / Personal Life

His brother, Justin Harding has represented Queensland at Under 16 level.

He previously wore number 45 during first season before he switched to number 5 previously worn by dual-premiership player, Brad Scott.
