Elizabeth was born on 24 May 1904 at Tatoi. Like her sisters, Olga and Marina, Elizabeth was considered a great beauty. Her family nicknamed her 'Woolly' because her dark brown hair was thicker and more difficult to manage than that of her sisters. Princess Elizabeth, who was the sweetest and least-known of the three lovely sisters, was a fearless horsewoman and a talented painter, though she cared more for horses than for art. She was close to both of her more-famous sisters.

Elizabeth married Count Carl Theodor of Toerring-Jettenbach, who was known as Toto. Carl Theodor's mother was a sister of Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians and Crown Princess Sophie of Bavaria, and he was named for his grandfather, Duke Karl Theodor in Bavaria. Elizabeth and Carl Theodor had two children:

Elizabeth died of cancer on January 11, 1955 in Munich. She was 50 years old.
