Kevin Appel (born 1967) is an American artist based in Los Angeles.

Life and work

Kevin Appel was born in Los Angeles. He received his BFA from Parsons School of Design [1], New York in 1990 and his MFA from the University of California [2] in 1995.

He makes semi-abstract paintings of translucent stripes, squares and rectangles in sterile off-white hues, or depicting wood veneer.

He has shown in “Drawing Now: Eight Propositions” at the New York Museum of Modern Art [3], “Drive-By” at South London Gallery [4], “New Paintings from LA” at Galerie Peter Kilchmann [5] in Zurich and “Quartzose” at Galleri Tommy Lund in Denmark.

He is represented by Marianne Boesky [6] in New York, Angles Gallery [7] in Santa Monica and Wilkinson Gallery [8] in London.
