Inner space, a term derived from "outer space", can be used to denote the regions beneath the Earth's surface, or more specifically, beneath the sea. In new age contexts, "inner space" may refer to the inner self or the realm of the imagination.^[1] In some scientific or science fiction contexts, inner space may refer to distances smaller than everyday human experience (i.e. below ~10^-3 m); the realms of the cellular, molecular, atomic and subatomic, just as outer space refers to distances greater than everyday human experience; i.e. above ~10⁷ m.
