I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! is a brand of margarine produced by Becel/Flora/Promise, which is a subsidiary of Unilever [1] [2]. It was introduced to the US in 1986 and later to the UK in 1991.[3]

Advertising campaigns

Advertisements featuring the product often end with the question, "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, can you?"

Model Fabio Lanzoni appeared in a number of ads for the product[citation needed]. On June 7, 2006, Greg Vaughan was officially named the new product spokesman[citation needed].

A 2006 advertising campaign in the UK features Ozzy Osbourne and impressionist Jon Culshaw doing an impression of Osbourne[citation needed].

The 2008 advertising campaign in the UK features voiceover Roger Tilling in the style of a Pathe News film.

Nutritional information

Although the manufacturer claims that the product contains no trans fat, this may not be entirely true. Checking the ingredients listed on the package shows hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils as part of the makeup. This is because the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows food manufacturers to make the claim as long as each serving of the product has less than half a gram of trans fat. In a serving of 14g, this equates to up to 3.5% trans fat by weight.
