The main school is an all girls, uniform secondary school for girls aged 11–18. The school has boarders (full, weekly and flexible boarding) and day girls. The school motto is 'AΓΩNIZOY TON KAΛON AΓΩNA THΣ ΠIΣTEΩΣ', a quotation (in Koine Greek) from 1 Timothy 6.12, meaning 'Fight the Good Fight of Faith'. 'Fight the Good Fight' is also the school song. There is also a feeder school, Headington Preparatory School for girls aged 3–11. Over 900 girls attend both schools and it is top in the country for A level I.C.T.
The Good Schools Guide called the Headington "A delightful school, [which] nurtures and entertains its pupils while at the same time achieving excellent academic results. [It is f]un and stimulating to be at."[1]
There is a newly built theatre, with visiting drama groups and music concerts. Other buildings include the Dining Room, extensive Art Department and three laboratories.
Other notable alumnae at Headington include Rowan Atkinson's daughter Lily, who used to attend the Preparatory Department, and Brian Eno's daughter Darla currently attends the school, while his other daughter Irial left in 2006.
