Win
Hawthorn won a thrilling two-point verdict in their first round NAB Cup match against the Sydney Swans who rested their big names such as Hall, O'Loughlin, Goodes and the Bolton boys.
2 - Quarter Final Carlton Blues Telstra Dome
Win
After smashing Carlton in the first quarter, Hawthorn's attack relaxed and the club cruised to a comfortable but unconvincing 34 point victory. Players of note included Cyril Rioli, Luke Hodge, Travis Tuck & Josh Kennedy. Campbell Brown was reported, and consequently suspended for 2 matches for charging the 2008 Number 1 draft pick, Matthew Kreuzer.
3 - Semi Final Adelaide Crows AAMI Stadium
Loss
The Hawks trailed early in the first term but managed to claw their way back, even taking the lead by one point early in the third term. This was not enough though as two late fourth term goals to Crow Jason Porplyzia ensured Adelaide a home grand final berth. Hawthorn now faces Collingwood in a practice match in Shepparton next weekend. Crows by 23 points.

The Hawks thrashed a dismal Melbourne by 104 points. 23.16 (154) to 6.14 (50). Lance Franklin featured with 6 goals, Sam Mitchell was outstanding in his debut as full time captain, whilst Cyril Rioli and Cameron Stokes also contributed greatly in their first AFL game. Michael Osborne plays his best game for the club, and Trent Croad dislocates his wrist after botching a tackle on Dees captain David Neitz in the opening 5 minutes of the game

2 Fremantle Dockers Subiaco Oval
Win
The Hawks Record their second win in a row, accounting for Fremantle by 15 points 16.16 (112) to 14.13 (97). Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead each boot 4 goals, while Sam Mitchell and Brad Sewell collect 27 disposals each. The Hawks bad run of with injuries struck again with Stuart Dew pulling a hamstring and will be sidelined for 3-4 Weeks. The win keeps the Hawks on top of the ladder.

3 North Melbourne Kangaroos Telstra Dome
Win
The Hawks get out of jail in a highly entertaining game. Leading for only 9 minutes of the game, they get home with 6 goal to 1 final quarter, 15.12 (102) to 13.8 (86). Lance Franklin kicked 5 goals, while Jarryd Roughead kicked 4. Brad Sewell again dominates with 34 touches. Despite the win, the Hawks Drop to 2nd on the ladder on percentage.

4 Adelaide Crows Aurora Stadium

Hawthorn continued their unbeaten season with a 44 point victory over the Crows, 17.12 (114 to 10.10 (70) The Hawks won every quarter, systematically overpowering their opposition throughout. Up forward, Lance Franklin once again shined with 6 goals, whilst the return of Mark Williams yielded a respectful 3 majors. The mid field enjoyed the open spaces in Tasmania, boosted by Chance Bateman's spirited performance in his 100th game of AFL football. The midfield were not impacted significantly by the late withdrawal of captain Sam Mitchell, with a leg 'niggle.' Down back, Brent Guerra played a blinder and was well supported by centurian gamer and noted hard man, Campbell Brown. The win puts Hawthorn back on top of the ladder.

5 Brisbane Lions Gabba
Win
Hawthorn recorded its first win in Brisbane since 2000, in doing so erasing the memories of its round one thrashing from last year and recording its best start to a season since 2001. Lance Franklin booted eight goals to further enhance his chances of becoming the first Hawk to win the Coleman Medal since Jason Dunstall in the early 90s. The Hawks, along with the Cats remain undefeated and have a share of the ladder lead following the Western Bulldogs draw with Richmond in the same round. 19.16 (130) to 17.16 (118)

6 Richmond Tigers MCG
Win
Hawthorn's 6th win came from a terribly inaccurate game in front of goal, with much hyped full forward, Lance Franklin kicking 1 goal 7 behinds. Despite kicking 22 behinds, Hawthorn were victorious by 12 points, the midfield playing at their intensive best, and Jarryd Roughead scoring 5 goals. 14.22 (106) to 15.4 (94).

7 Collingwood MCG
Win
Hawthorn thrashed Collingwood by 65 points, 24.10 (154) to 13.11 (89). Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead kicking six goals each and Mark Williams booting five. On the same timeslot, Geelong defeated Brisbane by 27 points in order for both teams to remain without loss this season. Hawthorn now enjoy a week off, but Luke Hodge could be missing after tearing his hamstring halfway through the match.

8 Port Adelaide Aurora Stadium
Win
Port Adelaide almost handed Hawthorn its first loss of the season when they led by 38 points halfway through the second stanza, however the Hawks clicked into gear with Lance Franklin booting six goals and Jarryd Roughead a couple. Hawthorn still remain undefeated but with Geelong winning in the same timeslot will remain second behind last year's premiers. It was sweet revenge for the Hawks, who lost on the final kick of the game in the corresponding match last year.

9 Melbourne MCG
Win
Hawthorn remains as the only team without loss this year, after defeating Melbourne by 19 points in a close match. The Hawks take top spot courtesy of Geelong's 86-point drubbing by Collingwood on the Friday night. Mark Williams, Lance Franklin and Cyril Rioli all kicked nine goals between them, with Franklin still leading the Coleman Medal count after nine rounds. Their best start to a season ever.

10 Western Bulldogs Aurora Stadium
Loss
The Hawks finally lost their first game of the season against the Western Bulldogs in Launceston. Despite this, the Hawks hold top spot on the ladder in spite of Geelong's 56-point drubbing of Carlton. The Hawks struggled in attack as well as in the midfield.

11 Essendon Telstra Dome
Win
Hawthorn maintained top spot on the ladder with a 51-point thumping of Essendon with Lance Franklin leading the way with nine goals, taking his tally for the year to 59. Essendon were competitive for the first half of the match, however they were blown away in the last half by a dominant Hawthorn outfit, keen to make a mends for last rounds failing.

12 Adelaide Crows AAMI Stadium
Win
Hawthorn won a four-point verdict for its first win over Adelaide at AAMI Stadium since 1994. However Lance Franklin was booked in the second quarter for rough conduct and kicked one goal and six behinds. Hawthorn's win extracts some revenge for their last trip to Adelaide when they were smashed by 71 points.

13 Kangaroos Melbourne Cricket Ground

The Hawks produced one of their worst performances for the year, losing 10.16.(76) - 15.13.(103). They have now dropped to third, behind the Western Bulldogs and outright competition leader Geelong.

14 West Coast Eagles Melbourne Cricket Ground
Win
The Hawks comprensively defeated West Coast by 57 points, with Jarryd Roughead kicking 6 and Lance Franklin booting five. Final score: 18.18.(126) - 9.15.(69).

15 Sydney Swans Melbourne Cricket Ground
Win
Hawthorn ended a six-match arrest against the Sydney Swans but Lance Franklin did his Coleman Medal chances harm by kicking a costly 4.7.(31). Mark Williams kicked four goals leading Hawthorn to a 15.16.(106) - 10.15.(75) victory, retaining third spot on the ladder. Brad Sewell was influential through the midfiend upon return from injury, whilst other strong performances of note included, Clinton Young, Campbell Brown and Brent Guerra.

16 St Kilda Telstra Dome
Loss
Hawthorn wasted a golden opportunity to overtake the Western Bulldogs on the ladder and became St Kilda's fourth victims in a row, losing by 30 points at the Dome, 18.11 (119) - 13.11 (89)

17 Geelong Melbourne Cricket Ground
Loss
Hawthorn lost in a potential Grand Final Preview by 11 points, and therefore the minor premiership is now virtually out of reach.

18 Collingwood Melbourne Cricket Ground
Win
Hawthorn ended a two-match losing streak and reignited their push towards a top two finish with a 54 point thrashing of Collingwood at the MCG. Lance Franklin booted 8.6 from 14 scoring sets, inaccuracy costing him double figres.

19 Brisbane Lions Aurora Stadium

Hawthorn celebrated Shane Crawford's 300th game with a 69-point mauling of the Brisbane Lions in Launceston. Another dominant performance from Lance Franklin saw him get closer to becoming Hawthorn's first Coleman Medallist since 1992, and the first player since 1998 to kick over 100 goals in a single season. Only five goals were kicked between the two sides heading into half time.

20 Richmond Football Club Melbourne Cricket Ground
Loss
Hawthorn lost in disappointing fashion, with Lance Franklin booting a lowly 3.6.(18). Their hopes of finishing second have not been dusted yet, courtesy of the Western Bulldogs' 11-point loss to the Brisbane Lions that round. Hawthorn will not win the minor premiership.

21 West Coast Eagles Subiaco Oval

Hawthorn made it two from two against West Coast and at Subiaco Oval this season, thrashing the Eagles. But Lance Franklin kicked only 4 goals 5 behinds meaning a potential shoot-out for the ton against fellow Coleman Medal candidate Brendan Fevola next round.

22 Carlton Football Club Telstra Dome
Win
Hawthorn finish the home and away season in fine style defeating Carlton by 78 points. Lance Franklin boots 4 including his 100th for the season late in the first quarter, sparking a massive crowd invasion. Jarryd Roughead kicks 5, while Luke Hodge dominates. Hawthorn now play the Western Bulldogs in the 2nd Qualifying Final.

Hawthorn thrashed the St Kilda Saints by 54 points without much from Lance Franklin, who scored only 1.1. Mark William proved as dangerous scoring 5.4. Hawthorn will play against Geelong in the Grand Final

Win
Hawthorn's strength and desperation saw the Hawks achieve an upset 26 point victory in front of 100,012 at the MCG. Luke Hodge was awarded the Norm Smith Medal for Best on Ground.
