Galguduud (Somali: Galguduud) is an administrative region (gobolka) in central Somalia. It is bordered by Ethiopia, the Somali regions of Mudug, Hiiraan, Middle Shabele and the Indian Ocean. The region's capital is Dhusa Mareb, and its largest city and commercial center is Guriceel.

Overview

Galgaduud is known for its peace and security despite clan diversity and general opposition to the government. Figuring among the regions of Somalia with plentiful livestock, the area also produces high quality meat for the domestic market.

Cadaado is one of the largest cities in the region and a hub of business activity. It is strategically positioned, connecting southern Somalia with the nation's northern regions. Cadaado's Xinlabi district is also the only source of natural salts in the country.

The district Cadaado at the side of education the city was lack of education from the callopse of siyad barre administration to the mid of 2009, when youth group known as IFTIIN EDUCATION formed iftiin primary and Secondary school of Cadaado, after that time the city seems that it's good at every side


The district of Ceelbuur (former Mudug regional capital) is an historic place. It has various mineral resources, including the largest deposits of uranium in Africa, and is the only region in Somalia whose residents principally rely on mining for their livelihood. Craftsmen in Ceelbuur also make beautiful burjikos and dabqaads. In addition, the Somali charcoal-fired cooking stove made entirely of sepiolite stone is mined in the district.

Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah, a Sufi militia, now controls much of the Galgaduud Region after defeating Al Shabaab in a number of battles in early 2009.[1]
