Edgbarrow School is a secondary comprehensive school in Crowthorne, Berkshire, England. The school is the main state secondary school in the area, and includes Edgbarrow Sixth Form College. It holds the title of a Business and Enterprise College as a specialist school.

The school has approximately 1,100 pupils, most of whom come from Crowthorne schools, such as Broadmoor School and Oaklands School. The school teaches 11-18 year olds, and has some of the best results in Bracknell Forest at GCSE of any non-selective state schools.[2]

School site

The school is on the boundary of Wildmoor Heath Nature Reserve and covers approximately 500,000 m² (200.5 acres). The school has two large grass playing fields and one astro-turf pitch, which are shared by Edgbarrow Sports Centre, run by the borough council.

The School has five main buildings:

The administration block was built in 2003, whilst the main body of the school was constructed throughout the previous forty years. Prior to the construction of the new admin block, reception was located in a small room near the main hall, which is now a computer room known as IT 1.

The Sixth Form Centre

Over 200 students study at the school sixth form. The college has trialled a fingerprint recognition system.[3] As well as A-level subjects, students can also follow a GNVQ course, which is an "equivalent" to four GCSEs.[4] The college is within the top 10% of A-level providers in Great Britain and for this reason the school will begin construction of a new sixth form centre building to allow for the expected increase in student numbers.

From the school year starting 2008 Tony Evans will be taking on the role of Head of Sixth Form.
