David Armitage (born 16 June 1988) is an Australian rules footballer for the AFL's St. Kilda Football Club. He was drafted at 9th overall by the Saints in the 2006 AFL Draft from Morningside. He is a medium midfielder/defender, attacks the ball strongly and is quick with his hands. Neat left-footer, he averages 20 possessions and provided Queensland with consistent, great drive throughout the championships. Born in Mackay, Armitage played all his Australian Football for the Eastern Swans Australian Football club. Armitage impressed selectors at the NAB National Draft Camp where he placed first in the "Agility Test" and placed in the top 10 for both the "Beep Test" and "3km Time Trial". Made his AFL debut in round 8 of 2007 against Hawthorn.
2008
Armitage impressed in the NAB cup averaging 18 disposals throughout the pre-season tournament, which St.Kilda won but wasn't selected for Round 1 which was a surprise to some. Armitage got the call up in Round 5 against Essendon replacing Aaron Fiora and racked up 20 disposals and kicked 2 goals in an impressive start to 2008 for Armitage.
