Dane Swan (born 25 February 1984) is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League.
Son of former VFA star Billy, Swan was drafted to Collingwood in 2001. He appeared on the Channel 7 show The Game (sports TV series) better known as 'Swanny'. Didn't make an appearance in his first season, he made his debut mid-way through the 2003 season, but only managed 3 games as a bench player. His career seemed inconsistent, but he fought hard off the half-back flank, but still had limited game time in 2004. Had a solid 2005 season after fighting into the side, to have some great performances in his early games, but despite fading, he had better consistency. In 2003, he was charged following a brawl with a security guard.
In 2006 Swan made a name for himself impressing as one of the most improved players in the league, and having an incredible impact off the bench. Swan played 21 games, missing two with a hamstring injury. He averaged over 23 touches, and was one of the league's biggest ball magnets, comparing time played and disposals. He also became a solid contributor in front of goal, kicking 19 goals, with most coming in the first half of the year. He bought up his 50th career game also. In 2007 he continued to improve vastly and notched up 595 disposals and 20 votes in the brownlow despite not being there on the night.
Dane lived with former team mate Guy Richards.
On October 3rd, Swan won the Copeland Trophy, Collingwood's best and fairest award.
