Coat of Arms of the Modern Municipality of Jerusalem
Coat of arms of the Medieval Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem, featuring the Jerusalem cross

The coat of arms of Jerusalem is an emblem of the city as well as of its municipality. It was instituted in 1949, following an official competition.[1] The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette Rashumot on November 13, 1958. The lion alludes to the lion of Judah, the walls on the background - the Western Wall, the olive branches represent peace and the inscription above is the city name in Hebrew.
