Campbellfield is home to Victoria's oldest church, The Scots church was built on Sydney Road Campbellfield in 1842, and replaced by the present blue stone structure in 1855. It was placed on the National Estate and Victorian Heritage Register, and has been an icon of Victorian history.

To the northern end exists an extensive industrial estate. Continued development has seen the site of Chris and Marie's Plant Farm and a recent Mitre 10 Superstore opening on the western side of the Hume Highway.Campbellfield is also home to the Ford Australia factory on the Hume Highway, where the current Falcon and Territory is manufactured. It is also home to Olympic Fitness Equipment located in the business hub.

Campbellfield did itself once have a railway station, however it closed in 1956 for the newly formed Upfield Station which was located in a position more accessible to the community.
