The Catholic Archbishop of Tuam is the consecrated religious leader of the Archdiocese of Tuam and its constituent churches. Tuam is the largest diocese, by area, in Ireland, extending over a large portion of Connacht. The office of Archbishop of Tuam has a long history; the first Archbishop of Tuam was Áed Ua h-Oissín (Hugh O'Hession), who was inducted in 1152. The Archbishop is metropolitan of the Church's western province in Ireland, which see comprises the Archdiocese of Tuam itself and the Dioceses of Galway, Achonry, Elphin, Clonfert and Killala.
