Ahmed ِAl-Fateh (Arabic: أحمد الفاتح), is a fictional character created by Shaikh Isa Bin Ali Al-Khalifa as being the conqueror of Bahrain without any historical evidence backing his statement, despite the fact that Ahmed was the great grand father of Al Khalifa family, and his real name was Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Khalifa, there isn't until today any concrete evidence which proves that he was the conqueror of Bahrain. All of the Al Khalifa rulers who have ruled Bahrain are descendants of Ahmed bin Muhammad bin Khalifa. He had four children and they were Abdulla, Salman, Mohamed and Yousif.

How this fictional character was created

Ahmed was the great grand father of the Al-Khalifa family. It all started back in 1912 when a historian known as Mohamed bin Khalifa Al-Nabhani, visited Bahrain on an invitation by Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa Ruler of Bahrain 1869-1923 , in which he requested Al-Nabhani to write about the History of Bahrain focusing on the period of the rule of Al-Khalifa [1]. Al-Nabhani agreed to do this, and he wrote the History of Bahrain based on what was fed to him by Shaikh Ibrahim one of the members of the Al-Khalifa family, as well as Abdulla bin Shamlan [2] without researching the information by other reliable sources such as the Residency in Bushire. Al-Nabhani's first print was produced in 1923 , which was known as Al-Tihfa Al-Nabhania Fe Tareekh Al-Jazeera Al-Arabiya, he is considered to be the first historian writing about the History of bahrain in general and the Al-Khalifa history in particular. In his book, Al-Nabhani wrote that after the defeat of Nasr Al-Madhkur in Zubarah, Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Khalifa gathered a force and conquered Bahrain expelling the persians from it in 1783 [3] and have ruled the island from that date until his death in 1794. Al-Nabhani also said that after Ahmed conquered Bahrain, he was nicknamed Al-Fateh which means the conqueror in arabic. Al-Nabhani , did not mention how Ahmed conquered Bahrain, which also made many readers suspicious in Al-Nabhani's claim as most conquests are written in details and not in one or two sentences.

Lack of Hard Evidence proving that Ahmed conquered Bahrain in 1783

After what Al-Nabhani said in his book about Ahmed conquering Bahrain in 1783, nearly all of the Arabic and English historians such as Lorimer, Kelly, as well as others relied on what Al-Nabhani said, without researching if his information was accurate enough. Therefore it became known througout the English and Arabic History books that Ahmed Al-Fateh was the conqueror of Bahrain in 1783. Let's not forget that Al-Nabhani, wrote his book in 1912 about an incident that happened in 1783, which is 129 years, and that is a very long time being that Al-Nabhani did not write his book in the time when Ahmed supposedly conquered Bahrain in 1783 so it can be accurate information. Based on the Records of Bushire for the year 1783, those files obtain very accurate information regarding the incidents that happened in the Arabian Gulf at that time from conquests to wars , but unfortunately there isn't any information which states that Bahrain was conquested by someone named Ahmed Al-Fateh or Ahmed Al-Khalifa. The Political Resident at that time was Edward Galley, and what was claimed in those files by the Political Resident was that the Utub tribe conquered Bahrain in 1783 expelling the persians , and not Ahmed Al-Fateh which Al-Nabhani and others claimed in their books. The Political Resident , unlike Al-Nabhani, explained in details how the the Utub tribe managed to conquer Bahrain. The Utub that were mentioned in the Bushire residency files were Al Bin Ali, the originators of this tribe. The evidence that backs this claim is what the British Foreign Secretary noted on the 19th of July 1871 in which he claimed that Isa Bin Tarif , was a desendant of the Original Uttoobee Conquerors of Bahrain [4]. This statement by the foreign secretary backs the statement which was said by Edward Galley in 1783 about the Utub conquering Bahrain in 1783, except that the foreign secretary specified that they are the Al Bin Ali , since Isa Bin Tarif was the Chief of that tribe, and a desendant of the Uttoobee conquerors of Bahrain.

No Hard Evidence that the Al-Khalifa family ruled Zubarah or Qatar

Mohamed bin Khalifa, the father of Ahmed Al-Fateh, is the great grand father of the Al-Khalifa family today , moved to Zubarah in 1768 due to a conflict between him and the Ruler of Kuwait Shaikh Abdulla Bin Sabah regarding other issues. He was a known merchant in Kuwait who engaged in pearl fishing along with his five sons: Khalifa, Ahmed, Muqrin, After their arrival at Zubarah, which was ruled by the Al Bin Ali Al-Utbi tribe, they settled there as an ordinary family. Judge Torres Bernardez of the International Court of Justice has stated something that proves this fact in which he mentioned that: "that the case file contains no evidence of the exercise of territorial authority by the Al-Khalifa over the other parts of the penninsula of Qatar, even during the period when they remained settled in the Zubarah area from 1766-1783 [5]. It is also crystal clear that while settled at Zubarah ( 1766-1783 ), the Al-Khalifa were not the rulers of Qatar, they were not before or after 1783 a kind of dynasty reigning over all the tribes and territory of the Qatar penninsula as the counsel of Bahrain has sought to insinuate during the proceedings at the International Court of Justice on the dispute of the Hawar Islands and Zubarah [6].
